Drosselmeyer - Nutcracker

Shelling nuts was almost certainly one of the world’s first domestic challenges. This might explain why there are more than 200 registered patents on nutcrackers. Drosselmeyer is the first handheld nutcracker to have a double lever action and a container to collect the shells. This award winning design is widely regarded as the best and most powerful nutcracker on the market. It’s a quick, clean and easy way to crack nuts.

  • Award winning design by Erik von Schoultz and Joakim Norin
  • weight: 350 g
  • length: 11 cm/4,33"
  • width: 9 cm/3,54"

So the programme reads, as the tall character with the eye patch makes his entrance in the famous christmas ballet, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite - E.T.A. Hoffmann. As the owner of the town's toy factory it is said that whenever he appears, magic and unexpected things starts to happen. Sometimes it takes a bit of magic in order to crack the hardest nut.

  • Nutcrackers usually employ similar design and therefore also present the user with similar problems. Shells and crumbs flying around, almonds that refuse to get cracked, and the ever-present danger of getting your fingers squeezed off.
  • Swedish-made Drosselmeyer is a brand new kind of nutcracker, designed to adorn the table at Christmastime, with both its form and function. Simply insert the nut into the cone, cover the opening and give the handle a light squeeze. Its unique design and durable construction has made Drosselmeyer a favourite amongst nutcrackers.
  • Drosselmeyer is designed to fit all kinds of nuts. Smaller ones, such as almonds and hazel nuts, end up at the bottom of the cone and crack easily with the force of the double lever.
  • Larger nuts, such as walnuts and Brazil nuts end up in top of the cone and Drosselmeyer makes cracking these open an easy job as well.

How to use:

Put the nut into the cone, get a firm grip, cover the opening, and squeeze the handle. Empty the contents into your hand. Each nut emerges whole and totally separated from its shell. Drosselmeyer makes your nutcracking clean and easy fun.

Hard nuts?
Just every once in a while you will encounter a nut that seems almost impossible to crack open. Squeeze the handle several times with short, firm squeezes while rotating the nut in the cone. Once the nut has sustained multiple cracks in its shell, extracting the core in its entirety should be a simple task.

Sometimes shells get stuck during the cracking of nuts, causing the handle to fall of. This is not a fault but rather a feature that makes maintenance of the nutcracker a breeze. Simply push in the piston, and reattach the handle in its place.

If the handle feels sluggish, the cause might be scraps accumulated around the spring hidden in the bottom of the construction. This is one of the reasons why all its parts easily come apart. First remove the handle, then push down on the lower part of the piston, and bend it backwards. Remove the spring and simply blow crumbs and scraps away. Reattach everything again, this time in reverse order.

In heart medicine there has been discovered a long standing correlation between good health and the consumption of nuts. It is said that eating a small amount of nuts every day can help cut the risk of experiencing heart conditions such as thrombosis and disturbed cardiac rhythm, in half. Furthermore, eating nuts has been proven to help against joint pain, and in lowering cholesterol levels. The results of several studies have shown that people who eat nuts regularly tend to cut the risk of getting coronary heart disease in half. One guideline is to consume at least 15 nuts a day, hazel nuts, walnuts and almonds are considered the finest and most beneficial kinds.
